PAYA BESAR, 6 November 2022 – B.Eng (Hons.) Civil Engineering graduand, Nur Anis Syazwani, 24, received the Puspanita Community Care Award at the Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) 17th Convocation Ceremony at the UMP Sports Complex Hall.

She graduated with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.83.

Initially, she was not interested and had to take up civil engineering, but she achieved the excellence award by earning the Dean’s List Award every semester seven times in a row.

“In the beginning, I never knew about civil engineering until I managed to get a place to pursue my study at UMP at the diploma level in 2016,” she said, who went on to pursue a bachelor’s degree at UMP.

Apart from excelling in her study, she was active in co-curriculum throughout her study at UMP and even held several important positions in associations and programmes.

She held the position of Academic Exco for the Civil Engineering and Earth Resources Students Society (CIVER) and had been the director of several programmes.

Apart from that, she regularly participated in various other programmes such as runs, forums and activities organised by other clubs and associations.

Her previous failure used to deject her to further study at UMP.

But with the encouragement of her family, she bounced back and strived to be the best.

She thinks that failing once does not mean you fail at everything.

She said she had had bad results before and was almost dispirited.

“But, at that point, my late grandfather assured me that nothing was impossible and he also wanted me to set the best example to other siblings and cousins because I was the eldest granddaughter in the family.

“So I bounced back and continued my fight,” she said.

She said that her current success is a gift for his late grandfather.

Today, Anis Syazwani has a strong interest in civil engineering and intends to become a civil engineer who can contribute to society and the country.
