UMP is now known as UMPSA
After 21 years of glory, Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) is now branded as Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA). His Majesty Yang Maha Mulia Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta’in Billah consented to the use of the UMPSA logo and name according to the Federal Government gazette effective 14 April 2023. The university started as the University College of Engineering and Technology Malaysia (KUKTEM), a technical university established on 16 February 2002.After five years of operation, the Government of Malaysia announced the change of the name KUKTEM to Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) effective 1 February 2007. According to the UMPSA Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, the university’s branding to UMPSA when it was at its peak of success coincides with its vision towards a leading technological university. Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) welcomed delegates from the National Productivity Organization (NPO) Turkiye along with the Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC). This visit is a continuation of the 'Multicountry Observational Study Mission on Best Practices in Lean and Digital Transformation for SMEs' programme that took place in Konya, Turkiye last June, attended by representatives from the Faculty of Industrial Management (FIM), Ts. Syed Radzi Rahamadulla. The delegates arriving at UMPSA Pekan was greeted by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Professor Ts. Dr. Kamal Zuhairi Zamli. Also present were the Dean of the Faculty of Industrial Management (FIM), Dr. Mohd Hanafiah Ahmad, and the Director (University-Industry Relations Division) of the Industrial and Community Network Centre, Associate Professor Ir. Dr. Chin Sim Yee, as well as representatives from FIM and the Centre for Design & Innovation of Technology (PRInT). Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) and Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS) recently exchanged Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) documents to facilitate the implementation of the Higher Education Strategic Initiatives (CHESS) program as a catalyst for industry-academic knowledge sharing in the technical field. The collaboration will contribute to the development of human capital in Malaysia to enhance learning, guidance and development, research, publications, staff exchange, and technical areas related to the energy industry. According to UMP's Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, through this collaboration, PETRONAS will share industry knowledge and best practices through lectures, seminars, training, and guidance for lecturers and final year students. Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) has entered into collaboration with Kuantan City Council (MBK) to improve services and boost the productivity of Kuantan city development and commercialisation of product innovation that can benefit both parties. UMP with expertise in various fields will also contribute to collaboration in improving the development of Kuantan city towards greening and environmental sustainability.
