UMPSA wins 2 gold medals in 18th Malaysia FIRA RoboWorld Cup 2025
MELAKA, 25 June 2025 – The robotics team from Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) succeeded in winning two gold medals in the 18th Malaysia FIRA RoboWorld Cup 2025 held from 21 to 26 June 2025 at Politeknik Merlimau Melaka.
It was UMPSA’s first participation in the prestigious competition organised by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) through the Department of Polytechnic and Community College Education (JPPKK).
The competition involved participation from various higher education institutions (HEIs) across the country.
UMPSA competed in two subcategories, namely Robosot Race and Robosot Avoidance under the Robosot category, and emerged as champions in both categories.
The UMPSA team was represented by Clement Andrews Chandran, Muhammad Hafiz Abdul Razad, Ahmad Muizzuddin Zainuddin and Nurain Hanifah Che Abd Rauf.
They are from the Dual Degree Programme, Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (Electronics) with Honours (BHE) and Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Electrical) with Honours (BTE) from the Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology (FTKEE).
Also present was UMPSA’s Chief Information Officer, Professor Ts. Dr. Hamdan Daniyal, who also served as the accompanying lecturer and technical advisor.
Professor Ts. Dr. Hamdan consistently provided guidance and motivation to the participants throughout the competition.
He said the team’s success would not have been possible without strong support from various parties.
“Thank you to Akademi A.D.A.B, FTKEE, and the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Students’ Society (EEES) for the sponsorship and assistance provided.
“Clearly, the sponsorship and assistance played a vital role in providing the team with logistical, financial, and technical support.
“In addition, Politeknik Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah (POLISAS) also contributed valuable knowledge and technical advice that significantly improved the design and performance of the competing robot,” he added.
He further stated that this achievement reflects UMPSA’s commitment to producing highly skilled and competitive graduates in the field of technology and innovation, while strengthening strategic partnerships with various parties to empower the nation’s technical education.
