Yayasan UMPSA reaches out to Bentong community, donates RM200,000 for Early Education Assistance and Excellence Incentive

BENTONG, 29 June 2024 - Yayasan UMPSA presented donations to ten families consisting of single mothers and families in need around Bentong in an effort to reach out and support the local community.

The handover in the form of food necessities was delivered by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), Dato’ Seri Abdul Razak Jaafar, who is also the Chairman of Yayasan UMPSA.

Also present were the UMPSA Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, Members of the Board of Trustees, Yayasan UMPSA.

This programme is part of the university’s efforts to reach out to the local community and support families in line with the UMPSA 2021-2025 Strategic Plan Agenda themed ‘Technology for Society’.

During the meeting, Dato’ Seri Abdul Razak also announced that Yayasan UMPSA would allocate an Early Education Assistance and Excellence Incentive of RM200,000 for new UMPSA students for the intake of the diploma programmes on 27 July 2024 while for the bachelor’s degree programmes on 28 September 2024.

“Early education assistance and excellence incentives will be given to students who choose UMPSA as their first choice university.

“This donation is specifically for students from underprivileged families and excellent students who meet the predetermined criteria.

“With this provision, UMPSA hopes to ease the financial burden of students and encourage more outstanding students to choose UMPSA as their higher education destination,” he said.

He also announced an allocation of RM1.8 million approved by Yayasan UMPSA for student welfare assistance for this year including Student Zakat, Excellence and Education Incentive Assistance, Campus Pantry and Student Kitchen Assistance and UMPSA Scholarship Sponsorship.

Meanwhile, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin also assured that the underprivileged students would continue to be the university’s priority.

“UMPSA will always make a full commitment to ensure that every student, especially those who are financially disadvantaged, receives equal and quality educational opportunities.

“The university will continue to provide financial assistance, academic support and various initiatives to ensure they can pursue their dreams without any obstacles,” he said.

UMPSA’s commitment is evidenced when UMPSA managed to be ranked 201-300 in the world’s best and fifth in the world for # SDG1 in an effort to eradicate every form of extreme poverty in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2024 which is one of the main global benchmarks in assessing the contribution of higher education institutions (HEIs) to UNSDG in terms of sustainability.
