UMP receives UMPH zakat
Kuantan, 22 October 2020 – UMP Holdings Sdn. Bhd. (UMPH) presented zakat to Yayasan UMP of RM5,000, 20% returns from business zakat for 2019.
Present to deliver the zakat is the UMPH Chief Executive Officer, Ir. Syed Mohamad Hamzah Al-Junid to the UMP Dean of Student Services, Student Affairs and Alumni Department, Associate Professor Dr. Mansor Sulaiman of the Yayasan UMP Management Committee.
Also present were Chief Business Officer, Datin Nur Rubaiha Mohd. Nor and UMPH Human Resource Manager, Muhamad Adlan Ma’arup.
According to Ir. Syed Mohamad Hamzah, UMPH takes the corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative to chip in while creating harmony in the surrounding community.
“UMPH’s business zakat is distributed centring on the four main thrusts which are staff welfare, contribution to UMP, local community development and environmental conservation,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Triumph Troopers Squad composed of UMP Holdings volunteers handed out an amount of zakat to several organisations including schools, maahad tahfizs, UMP, senior welfare centres and orphanages around Kuantan since mid-October.
In the meantime, Muhamad Adlan said one extended business zakat distribution programme, bottled water brand called Imani and Triumph Hand Sanitizer were also distributed involving schools around Gambang and Kuantan.
Among the involved schools were Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Lepar Hilir, Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Lepar 1, SK Lepar 2, SK Lepar 3, SK Gambang, SK Bukit Rangin, Sekolah Agama Rakyat and also Yayasan UMP.
He added, besides fostering good relations with the surrounding community, this programme also aimed at channelling UMPH expertise such as electrical and mechanical component repair, civil and structural building, farmland and fertigation management, personal development and soft skills among students for the benefit of everyone.
