Floorsys wins gold medal in 16th KIK UA
JOHOR, 4 October 2022 - The FLOORSYS Group from the Faculty of Civil Engineering Technology (FTKA), Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) won the gold medal in the 16th Public University Innovative and Creative Group (KIK) Convention held at Universiti Tun Hussien Onn Malaysia (UTHM) recently.
The FLOORS system refers to the acronym for Faculty Lab Online Open Reservation System which is a system that facilitates the booking of laboratory slots for students who wish to use the laboratory compared to the previous manual booking method.
According to the FLOORSYS group leader, Nor Azmi Sabri, the system has become a one-stop hub or centre for electronic laboratory management that emphasises the internet of things (IoT) concept.
“This project started in 2018 in collaboration with the Centre for Information and Communication Technology (PTMK).
“This system has been standardised to all FTKA laboratories since the students admission to UMP in stages after the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The biggest benefit experienced was during the previous pandemic when the FTKA laboratory successfully established a laboratory admission system for students using quota and systematic manner through the FLOORS System,” he said.
He also thanked all the group members, faculty, UMP management, advisors and all involved for a lot of encouragement throughout the establishment of this system.
Also contributing medals were the CIReL Group led by Dr. Al-Fahim Mubarak Ali and OSERA PLUS Group led by Dr. Wan Norlinda Roshana Mohd Nawi from the Faculty of Industrial Science and Technology (FSTI) who won silver medals.
The prize presentation ceremony was officiated by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of UTHM, Dato’ Sri Ibrahim Ahmad.
Also present were the Director of the Centre for Corporate and Quality Affairs, Associate Professor Dr. Chong Kwok Feng and PHKK Manager, Helmi Mohamed Isa.
The UMP Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin congratulated all the winners of this programme.
He said the university has always supported UMP staff in improving the culture of innovation in services.
“The current working environment certainly demands a more innovative delivery system in producing services that can meet and exceed the needs of customers and stakeholders,” he said.
He also hoped this success would encourage UMP staff to better inculcate innovation in ensuring quality services.
This convention saw Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) become the overall winner.
In the meantime, UMP was also announced as the host of the 17th KIK Convention next year.
