KDYMM SPB YDP Agong awards Proclamation Certificates for Pro-Chancellor and UMPSA
GAMBANG, 21 October 2023 - His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta’in Billah, Tuanku Chancellor of UMPSA set out to complete the Investiture of Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) and the awarding of the UMPSA Pro-Chancellor’s proclamation certificate to the Regent of Pahang, Tengku Mahkota Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Ibni Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah in conjunction with the 18th UMPSA Convocation Ceremony today.
His Majesty expressed his joy at the UMPSA proclamation and said that this proclamation would hopefully bring a new dimension to UMPSA after 21 years since its establishment.
“UMPSA needs to increase strategic collaboration with various industry partners including other local and international universities to continuously uphold this university’s excellence,” he said.
Also present at the ceremony were Pahang Menteri Besar, Dato’ Sri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, UMPSA Pro-Chancellor, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri (Dr.) Abi Musa Asa’ari Mohamed Nor and UMPSA Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainudin.
His Majesty also conferred the title of Emeritus Professor to Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Mortaza Mohamed, which is the highest academic award for his various contributions to national universities and higher education.
Among his contributions are being the Director of the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Pahang Branch Campus in 1998 and being involved in the establishment of the University College of Engineering & Technology Malaysia (KUKTEM) which is the 16th Institute of Higher Learning (IHL) in Malaysia in 2002.
During his service at UMPSA, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Mortaza was also the first Deputy Rector and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International).
His Majesty Yang di-Pertuan Agong also completed the conferment of degrees and awards of excellence to 79 recipients of master’s and doctoral degrees including nine awards of excellence in conjunction with the Convocation Ceremony which took place during Session 1 this morning.
His Majesty congratulated all graduates for their success today and also congratulated the parents and family members of the graduates, lecturers and all those involved in the effort to produce quality human capital.
UMPSA’s 18th Convocation Ceremony also saw 4,854 graduates for the year 2023 consisting of doctoral (70) and master’s (161) graduands, bachelor’s (2,181) graduands, dual degree (34) and diploma (961) and UMP Advanced’s lifelong learning programme (1,447) graduands who received their respective degrees and diplomas.
The ceremony took place on 21, 22 and 24 October at the Sports Complex Hall, UMPSA Gambang Campus.
Of these, 81 were international graduands from 14 countries.
