MRC CEO named Lifelong Learning Professional Award recipient
PAYA BESAR, 9 August 2022 – Always challenging oneself to go beyond the capabilities and find new ideas without feeling comfortable with the current situation become the secret of success for the MRC's Chief Executive Officer, Nor Hizwan Ahmad, who successfully completed the Executive Master of Business Management with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.86, thus receiving the Lifelong Learning Professional Award - Executive Professional Programme at the recent UMP 16th Convocation Ceremony.
According to him, his study and learning with UMP has brought new benefits and perspectives.
As a CEO, Nor Hezwan has always faced various challenges in regulating corporate operations, determining the company’s direction, exploring new markets, arranging financial plans, maintaining industrial relations and conducting strategic communications with various parties.
For him, the experience with fellow students and university teaching staff gave him many different points of view that can be applied to understanding views from different narratives.
According to Nor Hezwan, he always made every effort to help others in any situation and share his knowledge and experience.
Commenting further on the challenges faced during the COVID-19 pandemic, balancing career demands was not easy.
“The biggest challenge was when I had to limit meetings with supervisors to exchange ideas and views due to the Movement Control Order (MCO).
“In fact, it challenges determination and requires a lot of focus to graduate despite various obstacles and difficulties,” he said.
“UMP is an educational institution with its own vision and is proactive in ensuring learning opportunities for professionals to equip themselves with certification.
“The uniqueness of hybrid learning that combines virtual and physical learning gives UMP graduates an advantage in completing their studies,” he said.
In addition, to always be relevant, he suggested that UMP further intensify its collaboration with the industry so that UMP continues to be a contributor to national needs in IR4.0 which includes the segments of digitalisation, robotics, technology including smart manufacturing, metaverse and blockchains.
Therefore, he invited the university to explore more opportunities including research grants in benefiting collaboration with MRC.
He said this collaboration would give advantages to the university and students from various angles including in the field of research, commercialisation and innovation.
“So far, MRC has sponsored seven students in UMP since 2010 on a full-time basis and it is expected that this number will increase in the future,” he said.
He received the award from the UMP Pro-Chancellor, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri (Dr.) Abi Musa Asa’ari Mohamed Nor in the first session.
Also receiving the same award, Datuk M. Asojan s/o Muniyandy, a graduand of the Executive Master of Business Administration with a CGPA of 3.92.
