Yayasan UMP Scholarship holder Affiq Ikhwan receives Perodua Excellence Award

GAMBANG, 21 October 2023 – Although surprised to be named as the recipient of the Perodua Excellence Award at the Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) 18th Convocation Ceremony, Affiq Ikhwan Sulaiman, 25, is still grateful that the effort he has invested thus far has finally paid off.

The Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Manufacturing) with Honours graduand said that throughout his study at UMPSA, he was always busy not only in academics but also involved in community work and leadership.

“To allow me to divide my time in academics and leadership, I had to make proper time management so that learning was not interrupted,” he said, who obtained a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.80.

“I present this success to my mother, Roslina Wati Husin and father, Sulaiman Mohamad who owns an advertising workshop business.

The eldest of six siblings is also a Yayasan UMP Scholarship holder and Dean’s List Award recipient.

He won the Best Project Award for Senior Design Project UMP 2023 (Development of IBS Stirrup Bending Machine), the 2019 Mechanical Engineering Best Student Award (GMI’s Board of Director's Award) and the 2019 Mechanical Engineering Best Project Award (GMI).

According to this Kuala Terengganu-born lad, he is also happy that he currently works at Shaziman Transport Sdn. Bhd., Aviation Fuelling Vehicles Maintenance Division as Assistant Engineer located at KLIA 1 and KLIA 2.

The company provides aircraft refuelling machinery maintenance services at airports throughout Malaysia.

Indirectly, he is able to serve his parents.
