The Office of SUARA UMP donates 63 books to UMP library
Pekan, 26 August 2020 - The office of SUARA UMP donated 63 books published in-house to the UMP Library to elevate the momentum of the National Day celebration in conjunction with the 63rd independence.
The books were handed over by the Director of SUARA UMP, Ts. Dr. Muhamad Mat Noor to the Chief Librarian, Azman Abdul Rahim in a brief event held at UMP Pekan.
Among the books donated for the library collection are Coffee Table books, Convocation Books, Journals, and Scientific Books.
The handing over of these 63 books is also a symbol of Malaysia’s 63rd independence celebration.
According to Azman, the Library welcomes books donation from the Responsibility Centres (PTJ).
“The Library is not only for collection but also for knowledge dissemination, including publications from UMP.
“In the future, the digitisation aspect will also be introduced in the UMP Library. All printed materials will be made in digital form.
“This is to make it easier for users to access and preserve these materials.
“When outsiders are given access, the UMP citation increases and at the same time be able to promote more books published by UMP,” he said.
He further explained that the Library will assist in terms of collection, distribution, and cataloguing.
“The Library only needs three copies for the Library in Pekan and Gambang and also for archive.
According to Ts. Dr. Muhamad, the Library and The Office of SUARA UMP (formerly known as UMP Press) work hand in hand.
“The Office of SUARA UMP publishes books, while the Library serves as a place to collect community cultural works such as printed and digital works.
“The books donation should be made a culture by all UMP staff because the collection of UMP publications is also to ensure that all publications can be recorded well.
“I also hope that the UMP Library can preserve this treasure of knowledge well and use it for the users to cultivate a reading culture towards the national excellence,” he said.
