UMP residents celebrate Aidilfitri, appreciate frontliners
PEKAN, 24 May 2022 - The university highly appreciated the tireless sacrifice of frontliners at Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) to curb the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic among campus residents.
They were celebrated at the UMP Open House Ceremony with the theme ‘Syawal Dirai, Keluarga UMP Dihargai' and received a certificate of appreciation from the university.
The certificate was presented by the UMP Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin at the ceremony which was also attended by Peramu Jaya Assemblyman (ADUN), Dato’ Sri Haji Sh. Mohmed Puzi Sh. Ali.
Also in attendance were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & International), Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd Rosli Hainin, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Rusllim Mohamed and the university management.
According to Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie, surely the arrival of the Syawal this time was awaited with excitement among students after two years of not celebrating the festivities of Eid.
“Today’s ceremony is a platform to strengthen the relationship between staff, students, retirees and the local community,” he said.
“The ceremony also appreciates the role played by the frontliners in the fight against the COVID-19 outbreak in UMP.
“The university is grateful for all the commitment of security and health workers, especially the University Health Centre (PKU), Security Division (BKES), Student Affairs and Alumni Department (JHEPA), Centre for Property Management and Development (PPPH) and others including staff and student volunteers who contributed a lot to the university.
Meanwhile, 5,000 staff, students, retirees and the community attended UMP Multipurpose Hall in a lively atmosphere since 9:00 a.m.
There was also a competition of the best outlets that saw JHEPA announced as the champion, followed by the Academic & International Affairs Department (JHEAA) in second place and the Chancellery Department in third place.
