UMP, Yayasan UMP, RDA and Tanjung Lumpur Equestrian Club seal collaboration on equestrian activities
PEKAN, 15 March 2023 - Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP), Yayasan UMP, Riding For The Disabled Association Malaysia (RDA) and Tanjung Lumpur Equestrian Club signed a partnership in equestrian activities through sharing expertise, volunteerism and equestrian services to help children with special needs by providing therapy for them to recover.
UMP was represented by the Chairman of the UMP Board of Directors, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dr. Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahman and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin.
While the RDA was represented by the Honorary Secretary, Johari Lee and the President of the Tanjung Lumpur Equestrian Club, Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Shukri Haji Ismail.
With this collaboration, UMP will provide volunteer services to support efforts to help children with special needs recover.
Meanwhile, the Tanjung Lumpur Equestrian Club will also contribute as horse rider, rider’s assistant and coaching services.
Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dr. Abdul Aziz said riding therapy activities applied to people with disabilities (OKU) are seen to give positive development to children and thus be a healing therapy for various types of diseases.
“This collaboration provides space in an effort to advance riding activities at UMP and volunteer activities.
“It will also provide trained expertise and strengthen the soft skills of UMP students to contribute to the development of the community,” he said.
He hoped that this collaboration would provide an opportunity for UMP students to contribute their expertise and knowledge by learning riding therapy techniques and become a support group for trained volunteers in the future.
At the same time, this collaboration would also open up more opportunities to be explored on equestrian therapy in the country.
Meanwhile, this collaboration also allows UMP students to hold periodic training in Equestrian Orientation Clinics held at the Pahang Equestrian Complex, Tanjung Lumpur. This training concentrates on important aspects of equestrian sports such as basic equestrian techniques and knowledge of horse management.
Also present were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs & Alumni), Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd Rusllim Mohamed who performs the functions of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Professor Ts. Dr. Kamal Zuhairi Zamli.
