KUANTAN, Nov 2 : Some 2,773 students will be awarded their scrolls at the 13th Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) convocation ceremony from Nov 10-11.
It will be held at the University Sports Complex at the UMP Gambang campus in Pahang.
UMP vice-chancellor, Prof Datuk Seri Dr Daing Nasir Ibrahim, said in a statement today that the Regent of Pahang, Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, as UMP chancellor, will be giving out the degrees and excellence awards.
From the total, 63 are doctorate students, 172 master’s students, 1,713 bachelor degree students and 40 dual degree students.
Nine faculties are involved, as well as UMP Advanced Education and the Institute of Postgraduate Studies.
Daing said the university is also awarding an honorary engineering (electronics) doctorate to former Motorola Solutions Sdn Bhd managing director, Dr Hari Narayanan P. Ondiveeran.
“The university greatly appreciates his generosity in sharing professional knowledge and ideas as adjunct professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Electronics. He also helped in the success of the CEO@Faculty Programme by the Ministry of Higher Education,” added Daing.
At the convocation, 28 graduates will be receiving industry prizes and excellence awards, with the BASF Petronas Excellence Award, Soho Niaga Excellence Award and Setegap Ventures Excellence Award being given out for the first time.
