12 UMP lecturers listed as 2% world’s best scientists

KUANTAN, 28 October 2021 - Twelve Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) lecturers are listed among the two per cent of the best scientists in the world in various fields and disciplines. 

This recognition refers to the recent data from Stanford University in the United States of America.

They are Professor Dr. Jose Rajan from Faculty of Industrial Sciences and Technology (FSTI), Professor Dr. Rizalman Mamat from College of Engineering (KKEJ), Dr. Sudhakar Kumarasamy from Faculty of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering Technology (FTKMA), Associate Professor Dr. Wan Azmi Wan Hamzah from KKEJ, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Zularisam Ab. Wahid from Faculty of Civil Engineering Technology (FTKA), Professor Dr. Md. Maksudur Rahman Khan from KKEJ.

Also listed are the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation), Professor Ts. Dr. Kamal Zuhairi Zamli from Faculty of Computing (FK), Associate Professor Dr. Md. Arafatur Rahman from FK, Professor Ts. Dr. Md. Mustafizur Rahman from KKEJ, Associate Professor Ir. Ts. Dr. Kumaran a/l Kadirgama from FTKMA and Ts. Dr. Norazlianie Sazali from KKEJ.

Also on the list is the late Professor Dato’ Dr. Mashitah Mohd. Yusoff.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs & Alumni), who acts as the UMP Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin congratulated the UMP researchers.

According to him, this recognition will encourage interaction between local and international researchers and industries to pursue academic excellence in addition to creating research opportunities to solve world problems.

“Meanwhile, the UMP Strategic Plan 2016-2020 has achieved various excellence and successes at the national and global levels.

“The various successes achieved by UMP students and staff have enhanced the university’s image to the level of global higher education.

“UMP will also always strengthen its role as a technological university in MTUN that can contribute to the development of society and the country,” he said.

Meanwhile, the UMP Strategic Plan 2021-2025 will now position UMP to continue achieving glory with six strategic objectives: high-level TVET excellence, innovation with industry collaboration, high-impact technology empowerment, financial sustainability, and university ecosystem excellence and graduate entrepreneurship.

UMP will continue to excel in research and innovation in the future in an effort to enhance UMP’s technological capabilities through the number of high-impact product inventions and discoveries or technologies that will greatly benefit the community and internationally.
