Yayasan UMP will launch special registration number under strategic collaboration with Aquatwo
KUANTAN, 22 November 2021 - Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) will launch a special series of number plates UC1 to UC9999 which are only offered to the public through bidding after the completion of the gazetting process towards UMP’s 20th anniversary celebration next year.
It is coordinated by Yayasan UMP as a result of a strategic collaboration with Aquatwo Sdn. Bhd. for the purpose of education, research and increasing the welfare assistance for the students at this university.
By signing the memorandum of agreement (MoA), Aquatwo will operate the bidding process, marketing, and sales operations.
The Chairman of the UMP Board of Directors, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dr. Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahman cum Chairman of Yayasan UMP and Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, who performs the function of the Vice-Chancellor of UMP cum Deputy Chairman of Yayasan UMP, signed a memorandum of agreement (MoA) which took place at Hyatt Hotel Kuantan.
Meanwhile, Aquatwo Sdn. Bhd. was represented by its Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Muqharabbin Mokhtaruddin and Managing Director, Datin Nabiha Mustapha
According to Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dr. Abdul Aziz, universities need to be more creative in increasing income and covering expenses in management, research, and student welfare management.
“UMP is always open and visionary in generating university income.
“It can be seen today through the establishment of Yayasan UMP, which improves the quality of education at UMP and helps those in need.
“Industrial collaboration is also a significant initiative that helps universities not only in terms of funding but also to improve the quality of research at UMP through the sharing of technology expertise transfer, consultation, and product research,” he said.
He added that the University’s Board of Directors has agreed that the proposal for the sale of special university registration numbers is to be coordinated by Yayasan UMP for the purpose of education, research, and increasing welfare assistance to UMP students.
“We thank the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) and the Ministry of Transport for approving this effort.
“The combination of the two letters UC is taken to represent the letter U which is also the initial of the word university, which is UMP, while the letter C is the official vehicle registration number for the state of Pahang apart from its special feature with a unique word You See,” he said.
Yayasan UMP is a university effort in collecting and managing funds from the public, companies and institutions for the welfare of UMP students as well as funding educational and community programmes and providing additional learning facilities used by students and the university.
To date, Yayasan UMP has distributed funds amounting to RM4,018,276 to 12,099 beneficiaries throughout 2020 and 2021.
