UMPSA validates three regulatory Programmes at Muscat College, Oman
MUSCAT, OMAN, 5 November 2024 – A delegation from Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), led by the Dean of the Faculty of Computing (FK), Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Adzhar Kamaludin, and the Dean of the Faculty of Industrial Management (FPI), Dr. Mohd Hanafiah Ahmad, visited Muscat College in Oman to validate three regulatory programmes offered by the college in collaboration with UMPSA.
Also part of the delegation was Senior Executive from the Centre for Strategic Academic Cooperation (PKSA), Zahiruddin Mohd Zain.
The programmes under review included:
• Bachelor of Computer Science (Software Engineering) with Honours
• Bachelor of Computer Science (Computer Systems and Networks) with Honours (offered under the Faculty of Computing)
• Bachelor of Project Management with Honours (offered under the Faculty of Industrial Management)
A Comprehensive Validation Process
According to Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Adzhar, the visit involved an extensive validation process, including a documentation audit, interviews with students and lecturers, and a thorough inspection of the facilities at Muscat College.
“This audit session concluded with an Exit Meeting, during which recommendations were shared to further enhance the operation and documentation of the three regulatory programmes,” he explained.
Dr. Mohd Hanafiah highlighted that the visit also provided an opportunity to conduct interviews and undertake initiatives to strengthen the partnership and improve the delivery of the regulatory programmes at Muscat College.
Workshops and Knowledge Sharing
As part of the visit, a Seminar on the Implementation of the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) Method was conducted, focusing on its application in programme assessments and teaching.
Additionally, an OBE Implementation Workshop was held, using sample final examination questions to provide practical insights into the method.
Postgraduate Opportunities for Students
The collaboration also opened doors for students at Muscat College to explore opportunities for postgraduate studies at UMPSA, including master’s and doctorate (PhD) programmes.
Impact of Collaboration
To date, a total of 303 students at Muscat College are enrolled in the three UMPSA-regulated programmes:
• Bachelor of Computer Science (Software Engineering) with Honours
• Bachelor of Computer Science (Computer Systems and Networks) with Honours
• Bachelor of Project Management with Honours
