UMPSA management engages in visitation and community programme in Kampung Kiwatu
TUARAN, 2 March 2024 - Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, along with the university management team, ventured into the field to meet the community in the Visit and Community Programme in Tuaran as part of the ‘Program Kembara Prihatin UMPSA@Negeri di bawah Bayu 2.0’.
The programme included a community feast, where lunch was prepared together with the wife of the Sabah Chief Minister, Datin Seri Panglima Hajah Juliah Salag, alongside students and foster families from surrounding villages.
In her speech, Datin Seri Panglima Hajah Juliah appreciated UMPSA's commitment to supporting the Tuaran community and warmly welcomed the foster family programme involving families and residents here.
Meanwhile, according to Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie, the programme of supporting the local community aligns with the university's aspiration to expand access towards branding and internationalization of UMPSA while sharing expertise.
“This programme also emphasizes the importance of empowering education and technology as the foundation for sustainable development.
“By focusing on education and technology aspects, the UMPSA Foundation aims to provide the necessary skills and knowledge to the local community,” he said.
Community Programmes, Short Courses, Vehicle Maintenance (motorcycles of 150cc and below), exhibitions, health check-ups, sports, and Sustainability Program activities including Personal Hygiene Programme (Toothbrush/Women's Towel) also took place.
Additionally, the residents received a new formulated fertilizer product, namely Pre-Pecto organic liquid fertilizer with prebiotics, for banana and corn plants, provided free of charge.
A Compassionate Visit was also conducted with families in Kampung Selupoh and Kampung Serusop.
For beneficiary Abdul Rais Azamkhan, 41, who lives with his five children, he greatly appreciates the contributions received from UMPSA.
Engaged in chili and corn cultivation and gardening, he is excited about UMPSA researchers' expertise sharing, especially in IoT technology that can enhance crop quality and yield.
Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie also appreciated the cooperation of strategic partners that made this programme a success, including the Sabah State Government, Tuaran Youth Town Club, National Compassionate Foundation, Raudhah Rizq, Samaiden, Dana Kita, UMPSA Holdings, UMPSA Advanced, Muslim Care Global, Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park, Mr. Solar, and YADIM in improving the quality of assistance provided to the community and making a greater impact on society.
The programme also involved 55 UMPSA Kilau volunteers from the UMPSA Foundation Squad along with partner institutions such as Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), Yayasan Sabah College of Technology (KTYS), and Kota Kinabalu Polytechnic to support the Tuaran community through technology-related programmes, educational programmes, and community programmes.
