Convocation Bound
Kuantan, 19 Nov – The determination of a stroke victim to show up and received his Diploma at the University Malaysia Pahang (UMP) 12th Convocation Ceremony has captured the imagination of all who were presence.
Haridass a/l Annandi, 36, accompanied by his wife, Pratibah a/p Supramaniam, 35, received his Professional Diploma in Plantation Management & Technology from the Vice Chancellor of UMP, Professor Dato Dr. Daing Nasir Ibrahim.
Haridass, hailed from Air Tawar, Perak, suffered a stroke as a result of an automotive accident a few months ago resulting on him being partially paralysed and experiencing difficulties to speak.
According to Pratibah, her husband was determined to attend the convocation ceremony despite his current health state because he wanted to set an example to his children and also as a reward for his effort and struggle to complete his studies for the past three years.
“My husband works as a Plantation Officer at a plantation company in Air Tawar, Perak for 15 years. He has a big heart and very determined to complete his Diploma despite his age. He also make sure that he attended the class organized by UMP Advanced Education once every fortnight at Manjung, Perak.
“His will and determination serve as a source of inspiration for all of us and we are indeed very proud to have a head of the family that is very positive in facing life challenges” explained Pratibah.
Meanwhile, another graduate for Professional Diploma in Business Management, Shariza Harun, who suffers from SLE, also determined to be present at the fourth session of the 12th UMP Convocation Ceremony that witnessed 685 graduates receiving their scrolls from the Vice Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Dr. Daing Nasir Ibrahim.
Both of them are a part of the total of 2,845 UMP graduates receiving their degree and diploma at the 12th UMP Convocation Ceremony scheduled for three days starting from 18th to 20th November at the Sports Complex, UMP Gambang Campus.
