Ee Hui En Yayasan UMP volunteer receives Royal Education Award (Pingat Jaya Cemerlang)
KUANTAN, 6 August 2022 - Holder of a Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Pharmaceutical) with Honours degree from the Faculty of Chemical and Process Engineering Technology (FTKKP) with a CGPA of 3.89, Ee Hui En, 25, who is also a UMP volunteer was selected as the recipient of the Royal Education Award (Pingat Jaya Cemerlang) at the Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) 16th Convocation Ceremony.
The award was presented by the UMP Pro-Chancellor, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri (Dr.) Abi Musa Asa’ari Mohamed Nor on the first day of the UMP 16th Convocation Ceremony at UMP Gambang Campus.
The youngest of the couple Ee Koon Poon, 66, a retiree and Chua Siew Wan, 57, a teacher, who was born in Kuala Lumpur, not only excelled in academics but was also active in co-curriculum.
In addition to successfully obtaining the dean’s list certificate for each semester in UMP, her strength was also evident when she was entrusted with several key positions in various associations, programmes, and clubs.
She was the Honorary Treasurer of the Student Representative Council (MPP UMP) Session 2019/2020 and Academic Exco of Residential Student Representative 3 (PEKA-3) Session 2017/2018.
She was also a volunteer of the Student Volunteer Foundation (YSS) and her active involvement in volunteering programmes helped hone her leadership talent.
She said the experience also helped improve her communication skills and cooperation and shape her personality into a more mature, courageous and confident person.
“In addition, the six-month industrial training I went through at Moreth Sdn. Bhd. has attracted me to develop a career in Engineering Technology (Pharmaceuticals).
“Now, I am a New Product Engineer in the same company and was offered a permanent position in the third month of service,” she said.
In addition, she was entrusted with the appointment as the president of the Desa@Pos Menson Tour programme and vice president of the ASEAN Mobility UMP Scholar@Thailand 2019 programme.
She was also appointed as the vice president of the UMP Dihatiku! programe, secretary for the Value Innovation ASEAN 4.0 Thailand-Malaysia programme, and also president of the Oh Englishku! programme.
Ee Hui En also actively participated in volunteer activities organised by the Student Volunteer Foundation such as YSS Volunteer Management Training Course: Kickstarting Volunteer Projects/Initiatives 2020, YSS Virtual Volunteer Leadership Development Programme (VLDP) 2020, Volunteer Leadership Development Programme and Alumni Strategic Retreat 2019, 16th IAVE Asia-Pacific Regional Volunteer Conference 2019, and YSS ASEAN International Volunteer Mission Vietnam, Green Summer Volunteer Campaign 2019 as team leader.
She is very grateful to UMP lecturers such as Ts. Dr. Mohd Azmir Arifin, Dr. Wan Nurul Huda Wan Zainal, Dr. Siti Umairah Mokhtar, Professor Datin Ts. Dr. Mimi Sakinah Abdul Munaim and Dr. Rajaletchumy a/p Veloo Kutty are very experienced and expert in their respective fields and had always assisted her and her friends throughout their studies at UMP.
In addition, Ee Hui En expressed her gratitude to the UMP Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin and UMP officers, Mohd Jamil Mohd Ja’afar, Azlina Abdul Mubin and Siti Hazwani Shuhaimi who never waver in offering help, guidance, and motivation, and are confident in her abilities.
