12 UMPSA academic staff receive promotion letters

PEKAN, 17 December 2024 – A total of 12 staff members from Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) today received promotion letters following the successful applications for promotions in academic positions.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), who is exercising the function of Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ts. Dr Aida Mustapha emphasised in her speech that promotions are not an entitlement but the result of merit and excellence.

She also reminded those promoted to be role models and to continue performing excellent work to inspire others.
“This promotion is an opportunity to give back to the university.

“All of this is closely tied to our relationship with Allah SWT—purifying ourselves from negative elements and always maintaining integrity.

“In addition, staff members should continually improve themselves, have the right intentions in their work, and always prioritise the university in every action,” she said.

Furthermore, she stressed that recognition and appreciation come with consistent effort and commitment to excellence.

“High team spirit and collaboration are the keys to the university’s success.

“Therefore, I hope UMPSA staff will continue striving for excellence for mutual progress,” she added.

Among the staff promoted were Fathiah Izzati Mohamad Fadzillah and Hanisah Bon (Kasbon) from the Centre for Modern Languages (CML), who were promoted to Language Teacher, Grade DG44/DG10 (SSPA).

Zulfika Anuar and Zusafly Zubir from the Centre for Advanced TVET were promoted to Vocational Training Officer, Grade DV44/DG10 (SSPA).

Additionally, Nurul Wahidah Arshad from the Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology (FTKEE) was promoted to University Lecturer, Grade DS52/DS13 (SSPA).

Several lecturers were promoted to University Lecturer, Grade DS54/DS14 (SSPA), including Associate Professor Dr Mohamad Shaiful Abdul Karim and Associate Professor Ts. Dr Mohammad Fadhil Abas from FTKEE, Associate Professor Ts. Dr Hajar Fauzan Ahmad from the Faculty of Industrial Sciences and Technology (FSTI), Associate Professor Ir. Dr Mohd Rashidi Maarof from the Faculty of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering Technology (FTKMA), Associate Professor Ts. Dr Lee Khai Loon from the Faculty of Industrial Management (FPI), and Associate Professor Ts. Dr Liew Siau Chuin from the Faculty of Computing (FK).

Meanwhile, the Director of the Centre for Advanced TVET, Associate Professor Ts. Dr Mohd Shahrir Mohd Sani highlighted the importance of being attentive to the environment and not overlooking essential rights that need to be fulfilled.

The Dean of FTKMA, Professor Dr Mahadzir Ishak @ Muhammad, stated that promotions should be viewed as an increase in responsibility and an opportunity for more mentoring sessions to share knowledge.

The Dean of FTKEE, Professor Ts. Dr Hamdan Daniyal also emphasised the importance of professionalism, such as personal appearance, punctuality, and fostering positive perceptions among staff members.

The Dean of the Centre for Modern Languages (CML), Associate Professor Dr Nik Aloesnita Nik Mohd Alwi, reminded everyone that every level in the organisation plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the university and that staff members should always be open to collaboration.

The promotion letter presentation session symbolised recognition of staff contributions and performance and represented a step forward in advancing UMPSA.
