Engagement Session between UMPSA, MoHE, industry and strategic partners strengthens national economy

KUALA LUMPUR, 6 May 2024 - Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) recently held an Engagement Session with the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), industry and strategic partners and agencies to gain ideas, exchange knowledge, find out current issues in the industry and agencies, and create career opportunities, further strengthening the relationship between academia and industry players and agencies.

Themed around Empowering Industries: Innovating TVET for The Future, the event managed to gather various important inputs from industry partners and agencies that would be utilised for significant developments at the university level to achieve university aims.

According to the UMPSA Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts.  Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, this meeting was consequential for the university when it comes to policymakers at the ministry level, industry players and agency partners.

“The collaboration between the industry and TVET institutions plays a vital role in strengthening the country’s economy as well as providing employment opportunities and advancement to the community.

“Furthermore, this strong collaboration between the industry and TVET institutions will ensure that the country’s workforce is equipped with the relevant skills and knowledge to meet the demands of an ever-changing global market.

“Through innovation in curriculum and teaching, the university can ensure that TVET graduates not only have strong technical skills but also the ability to adapt quickly to changes in the industry,” he said.

Among the matters of concern are academic and curriculum needs, training needs at the industrial level, enabling the talents and potential of graduates, research, collaboration and consultation, ecosystem and support of industry and government including the empowerment of funding sources through the synergy of strategic collaboration with relevant parties.

Also present were the President of the Malaysia Board of Technologists, Professor Datuk Ts. Ir. Dr. Siti Hamisah Tapsir and Group Chief Executive Officer, Tanah Makmur Berhad, Dato’ Shahrul Nizam Abdul Aziz.
