GAMBANG, 2 June 2024 - In their quest to obtain information and see for themselves the facilities of the learning laboratory, a family from Melaka has been willing to leave as early as 5 am to attend the ‘Jom Masuk U’ 2024 East Zone II Programme at the Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) Gambang Campus recently.
Ling Ying Pei, 47 years old, accompanied by her husband and children who are Malaysian Certificate of Education (SPM) graduates, had planned their visit to UMPSA specifically to engage directly with university officials regarding student admissions.
"My son is very interested in Electrical Engineering," Ling Ying Pei mentioned.
"Usually, we rely on portals and brochures for information about offered programmes. However, today, we aim to gather information firsthand from university officials," she said.
Upon receiving explanations, Ling Ying Pei expressed interest in UMPSA's dual degree programme.
"Additionally, when I inquired about UMPSA's laboratory facilities, my family and I were promptly taken on a tour to see the labs," she added.
"It's impressive; in my opinion, UMPSA's labs are spacious and equipped with state-of-the-art technology," she continued. "This visit offers a great opportunity to experience UMPSA's facilities and learning environment."
The family left feeling inspired, hoping their children could benefit from studying at UMPSA.
Simultaneously, a total of 360 students and teachers from nine schools around Kuantan and Pekan participated in the Campus Tour@UMPSA programme during UMPSA's Open Day, which coincided with 'Jom Masuk U' 2024.
According to Maisharah Mohd Salleh, a Teacher and Counsellor from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaaan Nenasi, aged 45, she was excited to participate in the campus tour programme.
"Every year, we eagerly bring Form 5 students to attend the 'Jom Masuk U' programme, regardless of its location," she said.
"This time at UMPSA, students had the opportunity to visit labs and libraries, giving them a taste of campus life," she added.
"The excitement among students was palpable, especially when they travelled to UMPSA by bus provided by the university," she noted.
She expressed gratitude to UMPSA for providing excellent service throughout the programme.
During the hour-long Campus Tour session, students visited several labs at UMPSA, including the Faculty of Industrial Science and Technology Laboratory (FIST), the Central Laboratory, the Faculty of Industrial Management Laboratory (FPI), and the Faculty of Civil Engineering Technology (FTKA) Laboratory.
