UMP establishes strategic collaboration with Piri Reis University, Turkiye
ISTANBUL, 27 February 2023 - Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) continues to strengthen its global brand through a new strategic partnership with Piri Reis University (PRU) in Turkiye.
Through this strategic partnership, UMP and PRU signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to explore comprehensive and meaningful academic and research collaboration by focusing on staff and student exchange programmes.
According to the UMP Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, this MoU also provides a collaborative opportunity related to appointing visiting professors, high-impact research, and teaching and learning activities.
“This collaboration also provides an opportunity to explore other partnerships that can drive the excellence and glory of both institutions in the future,” he said.
UMP was led by the Assistant Vice-Chancellor, Industrial and Community Collaboration Division, Associate Professor Dr. Nurul Hazlina Noordin and Director of UMP Centre for International Relations, Associate Professor Dr. Azmir Mohd Azhari.
While PRU was represented by the Rector, Professor Dr. Nafiz Arica and Deputy Rector, Professor Dr. Mehmet Ziya Sōgüt.
The UMP delegation also had the opportunity to visit the PRU Maritime Control Centre which is the third largest in the world.
The centre provides cruise simulation to sailors and PRU students concerning the marine environment and modelling hundreds of support vessels.
Piri Reis University (PRU), founded in 2008 by the Turkiye Maritime Education Foundation, is a non-profit higher education institution and is the first maritime university in Turkiye.
