UMP receives benchmarking visit from UiTM Terengganu Bukit Besi Campus
PAYA BESAR, 4 July 2023 - The Faculty of Chemical and Process Engineering Technology (FTKKP), Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP), received a benchmarking visit on the implementation of Work-Based Learning from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Terengganu Bukit Besi Campus for the Diploma in Chemical Engineering programme.
The half-day visit, involving 13 delegates from UiTM, was led by the Deputy Academic Vice-Chancellor, Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Sarifah Fauziah Syed Draman, PKK Coordinator, and staff from both programmes.
Also present were the Academic and Student Affairs Dean (FTKKP), Dr. Rozaimi Abu Samah, Deputy Head of Program, Bachelor of Facility Maintenance Technology in Oil and Gas (BVF), Ts. Dr. Sa'aadah Sulaiman, programme staff, and teaching engineers.
The main agenda of the visit was to seek advice and references for the implementation of Work-Based Learning (WBL) programmes.
A briefing was given to the delegates by Dr. Rozaimi Abu Samah, particularly regarding the introduction to the programs available at FTKKP, followed by a presentation on the BVF programme and the implementation of WBL by Ts. Dr. Sa'aadah Sulaiman, which took place in the Senate Meeting Room, UMP Gambang Campus.
In addition, several other matters were discussed and shared, including challenges in securing WBL placements, industry cooperation, and financial implications.
At the same time, the UiTM delegates were taken on a tour of the FTKKP laboratories and learning facilities for the BVF program.
