UMP receives visit from Sekolah Menengah Imtiaz Yayasan Terengganu Marang

PEKAN, 8 February 2023 – A delegation of 30 people from Sekolah Menengah Imtiaz Yayasan Terengganu (SMI YT), Marang including the principal, teachers and students visited Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) and Confucius Institute (CI).

The delegation was led by SMI YT Marang officer Fain Zahirah.

In the morning session, they visited the laboratories at the Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology (FTKEE) and the Faculty of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering Technology (FTKMA).

CI Director Yong Ying Mei said students had the opportunity to try out different experimental equipment on their own and showed an interest in engineering.

They welcomed SMI YT Marang to UMP and encouraged students to learn Mandarin and take the Mandarin Proficiency Test (HSK) for the opportunity to pursue a Dual Degree programme with Beijing Jiaotong University (BJTU) in engineering.

Also present was the Principal of SMI YT Marang, Ustaz Wan Mohd Azman Wan Abdullah, who encouraged students to master Mandarin and continue their studies at UMP and in China.

CI UMP also organises language and cultural activities such as singing Mandarin songs, the art of paper cutting, Chinese painting art and competition using chopsticks.

Language and cultural activities are taught by CI lecturers, Associate Professor Zhang Ying and CI UMP Mandarin teachers including Baiguanyi, Zhang Xian and Wang Changwei.
