UMPSA appoints 4 industry representatives as Adjunct Professors

KUALA LUMPUR, 16 October 2024 – Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) has appointed four industry representatives as Adjunct Professors during the Exchange of Memorandums of Understanding and Agreements between the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), the Malaysian Technical Universities Network (MTUN), and industry partners, held recently at Dewan Perdana, MIDA Sentral.

The four Adjunct Professors are Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid, Chief Executive Officer of MIDA; Mohd Jeffery Abdull Manaf, Senior Director of Production Module 2 at Infineon Technologies; Datuk Ts. Hasnul Fadhly Hasan, Chief Executive Officer of MYNIC Berhad; and Ir. Dr. Abdul Aziz Abbas, Chief Operating Officer of Ranhill Bersekutu Sdn. Bhd.

These individuals were appointed under the CEO@Faculty Programme (CFP) to encourage knowledge sharing between academia and industry by pairing selected CEOs with universities.

According to UMPSA Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato' Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, this initiative enables industry leaders to share their knowledge and experience with students and faculty members, further aligning university educational programmes with industry standards.

“Through their engagement, we will gain invaluable insight into the latest trends, best practices, and emerging opportunities in various sectors.

"This not only enhances the marketability of our graduates but also ensures that the curriculum remains dynamic and responsive to industry changes," he said.

Ir. Dr. Abdul Aziz Abbas, Chief Operating Officer of Ranhill Bersekutu Sdn. Bhd., who was appointed as an Adjunct Professor for the Faculty of Civil Engineering Technology (FTKA), stated that this appointment allows the industry to share experience, knowledge, and technology with the university.

"We offer opportunities and collaboration where students can undergo practical training in the industry.

"These students will also receive practical training by following common engineering practices and be exposed to management knowledge.

"In fact, through this initiative, the industry also has the opportunity to contribute by sharing experience and expertise to support the education of the younger generation," he said.
