According to Professor Dr Yatimah, the recognition of talent is not merely an appreciation of one’s natural abilities but also a reflection of effective leadership and the ability to create a lasting impact on the university and the nation.

“This celebration, in my opinion, is extremely important as part of the agenda to further reinforce quality culture values in this university and to enable us to collectively remember our responsibility in raising awareness about quality management and practices.

“In fact, today we are not only celebrating the successes achieved, but more importantly, we are celebrating the values that drive UMPSA—anchored on five core values that form the heartbeat of UMPSA’s excellence.

“Excellence is not a skill, it is an attitude.

“It is this attitude that shapes who we are today—UMPSA, a progressive, creative, and competent university,” she said.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr Yatimah Alias, also urged the entire UMPSA community to continue working hand in hand to realise the University Transformation Agenda, including strengthening individual potential, advancing academic programmes, and developing a sustainable and competitive campus ecosystem.

HKI 2025 also featured the presentation of 12 award categories, including the Excellent Service Award (APC), Vice-Chancellor’s Quality Award, University Academic Award, Research, Innovation and Commercialisation Award, University e-Learning Award, and Award for Upholding Malay Language as the Language of Knowledge at UMPSA.

Among the recipients of the Vice-Chancellor’s Quality Award were the Student Affairs and Alumni Department (JHEPA), the Registrar Department, and the Faculty of Computing.

These three Responsibility Centres received a merit incentive of RM5,000 as recognition for operational and governance excellence.

The Centre for Modern Languages (PBM) also stood out as a recipient of awards in various categories, including e-Learning and University Academic, proving holistic excellence in delivering quality education.

Additionally, a total of 147 staff members who achieved excellent performance in 2024 were also recognised with the APC Award.

The event was enlivened with a montage presentation and interlude performances that fostered a spirit of togetherness and appreciation for the efforts and commitment of the UMPSA community.

As a symbolic gesture of industry–academia collaboration, PROTON handed over two units of Proton X50 to UMPSA for use in teaching and learning at the Faculty of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering Technology (FTKMA).

This official handover was conducted in conjunction with HKI 2025 by PROTON representatives, Vice President of Human Resources and Administration, Amran Mohd Tomin, and Special Officer HCA & HRBP, Megat Iskandar Megat Nor Hashim.

According to Professor Dr Yatimah Alias, this contribution will provide students with opportunities to understand the latest automotive technology directly and practically, in line with UMPSA’s aspiration to produce experts relevant to current industry needs and to drive UMPSA’s goal of becoming the ASEAN Advanced TVET Hub within the next five years.

The 2025 Quality and Innovation Day is not merely a recognition event but reflects UMPSA’s commitment to cultivating excellence and strengthening its position as a world-class technical higher education institution that contributes to societal and national development.
