UMPSA ranks 601-800 in the world in THE WUR 2024
PEKAN, 28 September 2023 - Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) has been listed in the 601-800 position range globally in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2024 (THE WUR), which was recently announced.
This achievement sees UMPSA now successfully attaining a position alongside the world's top universities.
THE WUR is assessed based on Teaching (the learning environment), Research Environment (volume, income, and reputation), Research Quality (research influence), Industry (knowledge transfer), and International outlook (international staff, students, and research collaborations).
According to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, UMPSA is also ranked among the top 611 globally and within the top 5 in Malaysia for high-quality research criteria.
"The assessment for THE WUR is made based on 1,904 universities from around the world, and UMPSA's achievement has improved compared to its 801-1000 position in the 2023 assessment," he said.
"At 21 years of age, UMPSA is now ranked 8th best in Malaysia and the first among the Malaysian Technical University Network (MTUN)."
"I want to express my appreciation and congratulations to the UMPSA community who are committed to creating innovation and uniqueness in research offerings, strategic collaborations with industry, and international academic program delivery through strategic partnerships at various levels nationally and internationally," he said.
He added that UMPSA is consistently committed to creating innovation and uniqueness in academic programme offerings through international partnerships.
In the meantime, the university offers various technical programs based on Engineering and Technology, offering high-level Technical Education and Vocational Training (TVET) programmes.
In the field of engineering, the university adopts world-class models such as cooperation programmes with the Karlsruhe University of Applied Science (HKA) in Germany, which is seen as the benchmark for universities in Malaysia.
In research, the university focuses on applied research and projects with local industries to enrich teaching and learning while promoting commercialization activities for research products.
THE WUR 2024 edition sees the University of Malaya (251-300), Universiti Teknologi Petronas (301-350), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, and Universiti Utara Malaysia each in the (401-500) position range, Universiti Putra Malaysia (501-600), and Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris and Sunway University in the (601-800) position range.
