UMPSA receives visit from Director-General of Public Works

PEKAN, 26 January 2025 – Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) received a visit from the Director-General of Public Works, Datuk Wira Ir. Roslan Ismail, who was accompanied by a delegation from the Public Works Department (JKR) to strengthen collaboration between JKR and UMPSA.

The delegation was welcomed by the Vice-Chancellor of UMPSA, Professor Dr Yatimah Alias, the Registrar, Dato’ Saiful Bahri Ahmad Bakarim, the Director of the Centre for Property Development and Management (PPPH), Ts. Izwan Ismail, and other members of the university’s management team.

The engagement session provided an opportunity for both parties to discuss issues related to the implementation of development projects aimed at improving the planning, execution, and monitoring processes of these projects.

According to Professor Dr Yatimah, the university plays a direct role in increasing access to quality education and aims to complete infrastructure developments related to the university’s core fields: engineering and technology.

“UMPSA in Pekan began operations in mid-2009, and its development has been carried out in phases according to the development allocations received.

Currently, it is still in the 50% development phase.

“At present, 4,503 students are pursuing their studies at UMPSA Pekan, while 5,967 students are enrolled at UMPSA Gambang Campus.

“Hence, more collaborations will certainly be carried out with JKR in the future,” she stated.

The delegation also had the opportunity to visit the UMPSA Mosque, which began operations on 3 July 2024.
Meanwhile, the construction site for the Convocation Hall is expected to be completed by April 2026.

The Convocation Hall, designed with the theme of Wau Pungguk, inspired by the traditional kite from Pekan, Pahang, will accommodate up to 3,500 people at a time.

Also present were the Deputy Director-General of Public Works, Dato’ Ir. Ibrahim Esa, the Director of the Education Works Branch (CKP), Dato’ Ir. Dr Balamurugam s/o A Gopal, and the Director of JKR Pahang, Dato’ Ir. Ts. Hafizah Zakaria.
