UMPSA recognised as No. 1 Technical University in Malaysia and 146th in the world
PEKAN, 14 May 2024 - Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) was recognised as the 146th best university in the world under the age of 50 by the Times Higher Education (the) Young University Rankings 2024.
This achievement placed UMPSA in the 3rd position in Malaysia and in the first position among the Malaysian Technical Universities Network (MTUN).
The UMPSA Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin said UMPSA is a university based on engineering and technology which is now 22 years old.
“The indicator of UMPSA’s strength is Research Quality.
“The university focuses on applied research and industry projects with the local industry to enrich teaching and learning as well as promote the research products’ commercialisation activities.
“This achievement also proves that UMPSA is on the right track in line with the UMPSA Strategic Plan 2021-2025 in driving excellence to be on par with the leading universities in the world in general and in Malaysia in particular,” he said.
THE Young makes an assessment based on the Research Quality indicator: 30%, Teaching Reputation: 29.5%, Research Environment: 29%, International Outlook: 7.5% and Industry: 4%.
“This outstanding performance cannot be realised without the unwavering commitment of the university community and productive strategic collaboration with industry, agencies, the public sector, and not forgetting UMPSA alumni.
“I would like to congratulate the UMPSA staff who are always committed to creating innovation and uniqueness in research, strategic collaboration with industry and internationalisation of academic programmes through the strategic networking at various levels, locally and abroad.
“UMPSA is always committed to creating innovation and uniqueness in the offering of academic programmes through the strategic networking at the international level,” he said.
UMPSA offers various engineering- and technology-based technical programmes and Advanced Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) study programmes.
