UMPSA records its highest number of new diploma students with 891 registrations

PEKAN, 19 July 2025 – Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) marked a historic milestone by recording its highest number of new diploma student registrations, with a total of 891 students enrolling simultaneously at both the Pekan and Gambang campuses for the 2025/2026 academic session.

Of the total, 449 students registered at the Pekan campus, while 434 students registered at the Gambang campus.
These students are enrolled in one of eight diploma programmes offered by the university. The programmes include the Diploma in Chemical Engineering (DRK), Diploma in Computer Science (DRC), Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (DRM), Diploma in Civil Engineering (DRA), Diploma in Manufacturing Engineering Technology (DRP), Diploma in Industrial Science (DRS), Diploma in Electrical Engineering (DRE), and Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (DRO).

According to the Vice-Chancellor of UMPSA, Professor Dr. Yatimah Alias, the registration process began as early as 8:30 a.m. and ran smoothly throughout the day.

Each student completed their registration in just two minutes, and the process received very positive feedback from both students and their parents.

Professor Dr. Yatimah extended her warmest welcome to the newly registered students.

“I would like to congratulate all the new students who have chosen UMPSA as their institution of higher learning for this academic year.

“I hope that every student entrusted with this opportunity will carry out their responsibilities with full dedication, enthusiasm, and a strong commitment to excellence,” she said.

UMPSA continues to demonstrate its role as a leading technical university by expanding access to quality education for more students across the nation.

This includes offering places to students from tahfiz institutions, as part of its commitment to inclusive education.

In line with its caring mission, the university also took steps to support students from underprivileged backgrounds.
Through the UMPSA Prihatin Squad, in collaboration with the UMPSA Foundation, the university organised 30 Caring Visit Programmes aimed at assisting new students from B40 families.

These programmes provided moral support and essential supplies to help students transition smoothly into campus life.

Professor Dr. Yatimah also mentioned that, as part of these initiatives, the university arranged transportation for three families from Jasin, Tangkak, and Shah Alam, using UMPSA vehicles to bring them to campus for registration.
“For the university, initiatives like these reflect our spirit of compassion and concern for student welfare.

“They align with our vision of being a caring and inclusive technical university,” she added.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), Professor Dato’ Ir. Ts. Dr. Ahmad Ziad Sulaiman, was also present during the registration process.

He took the opportunity to engage with students and their parents at both the Pekan and Gambang campuses.

During his visit, he also met with the first group of students admitted through the special Tahfiz TVET pathway, a strategic collaboration between UMPSA and the Pahang Islamic Religious Council (MUIP).

These students are now pursuing studies in the Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety and the Diploma in Industrial Science.
