UMPSA residents embrace the "Let's Read Together 10 Minutes" Initiative
GAMBANG, 23 April 2024 - Reading is the bridge to knowledge; the more you read, the more knowledge you gain.
The Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Library (UMPSA) organized the "Let's Read Together 10 Minutes" programme to celebrate Book Day, an annual event aimed at fostering a love of reading among university students.
This programme took place simultaneously from 11:00 am to 11:30 am at both UMPSA campuses, Pekan and Gambang.
According to UMPSA Librarian Muhammed Fawwaz Abdul Rasid, it is estimated that more than 200 students and staff participated in the programme.
First-year Bachelor of Energy and Environmental Technology student, Subeksha a/p Kannan, remarked that programmes like this can spark an interest in reading among students.
"Programmes like this should be held more often so that the culture of reading books can continue," she said.
Sofia Afifah Hazemi, a first-year Master's student in Occupational Safety and Health, observed that today's students are less inclined to read books, having shifted their interest to digital reading materials.
"However, programmes like this can reintroduce the culture of reading among students. Books remain the main source of reference in our learning," she noted.
Additionally, the UMPSA Library organized a competition, receiving a total of 59 entries, where all UMPSA residents were invited to share the most creative and interesting pictures of themselves reading.
