UMPSA Strategic Plan 2026–2030 (UMPSA30) to Drive the University’s Continued Excellence

PUTRAJAYA, 4 July 2025 – Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) continues to strengthen its position as a globally recognised technical higher education institution through the UMPSA Strategic Plan 2026–2030 (UMPSA30), which has been structured and is now in its final phase before its official launch later this year.

The framework of the UMPSA Strategic Plan 2026–2030 (UMPSA30) was presented in a session that gathered members of the University Board of Directors (LPU), the University’s Top Management, and UMPSA subsidiary companies, intending to refine the five-year direction of UMPSA towards a more dynamic and high-impact future, which was held at Hotel Zenith, Putrajaya.

According to the Chairman of the UMPSA Board of Directors, Dato’ Seri Abdul Razak Jaafar, the presented framework is comprehensive and strategic in strengthening UMPSA as a technical university of the future.

“UMPSA30 was developed using a highly systematic approach.

“It is not only based on the internal strengths of the university, but also elevates the National Higher Education Agenda.

“The alignment of this plan with the Malaysia Education Blueprint 2025–2035 reflects UMPSA’s commitment to its role as a reference institution in the field of technical education and TVET,” he said.

Meanwhile, UMPSA Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr Yatimah Alias, stated that UMPSA30 will serve as a crucial instrument in restructuring the university’s development agenda to be more responsive to the global landscape and industry demands.

“This plan focuses on phased growth, strengthening of internal support systems, and empowerment of a sustainable university ecosystem.

“It will be monitored periodically through a stringent performance reporting mechanism to ensure every objective is achieved,” she said.

“The UMPSA30 framework was inclusively developed based on six main clusters, namely the Talent, Finance, Students and Alumni, Ecosystem, Academic, and Research Clusters,” she added.

She stated that the implementation of these clusters is also driven by seven Strategic Thrusts: Engineering Technology Empowerment, Internationalisation, Excellent Research, Sustainability, Individual Talent Development, Advanced TVET Hub, and Entrepreneurship.

“Additionally, UMPSA30 is aligned with the SPIROS concept, which comprises Skills, Perfection, Impact, Resilience, Optimisation, and Sustainability.”

UMPSA30 is spearheaded by the Centre for Strategic & Quality Management (PPSK) as the main secretariat of the university’s strategic plan.
