Yayasan UMPSA mobility expedition brings education and Ramadan compassion mission to Indonesia

DOLOKGEDE, BOJONEGORO, 27 February 2026 – A total of 15 volunteers from Yayasan Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) participated in the Mobility Expedition Programme in Dolokgede, Bojonegoro, Indonesia, which took place from 19 to 27 February 2026.

The nine-day programme was jointly organised with Universitas Bojonegoro (UNIGORO), Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Sunan Giri (UNUGIRI), IKIP PGRI Bojonegoro, Pergerakan Mahasiswa Islam Indonesia (PMII), and Asosiasi untuk Demokrasi dan Kesejahteraan Sosial (Ademos).

This programme served as a platform that combined elements of education, agriculture, livestock farming, community service, and cultural exchange between Malaysia and Indonesia.

The opening ceremony was held on 21 February and was witnessed by the Head of Yayasan Mannah, Haji Imam Effendi; the representative of the Head of Dolokgede Village, Rudik Kristianto; the Chairman of Ademos Indonesia, Ahmad Shodiqurosyad; the Chairman of the PMII Bojonegoro Branch Executive Committee, Moh. Bahrul Hikam; the Rector of UNUGIRI, K.M. Jauharul Ma’arif; the representative of the Rector of IKIP PGRI Bojonegoro, Dr. Ima Isnaini TR; as well as the representative of Yayasan UMPSA, Nor Azlina Ahmad.

The ceremony also witnessed the signing of a collaboration agreement between the parties involved as a sign of commitment to strengthening educational ties and community service between the two countries.

Throughout the programme, the volunteers had the opportunity to gain experience through various field activities, including a visit to the Yayasan Field-assisted farm in Desa Bonorejo, Kecamatan Gayam, which provided exposure to modern and sustainable agricultural practices.

They also visited the Greenhouse Anggur in Desa Bandungrejo to learn grape cultivation techniques using artificial climate control, which is increasingly gaining attention among young farmers in Indonesia.

The volunteers also participated in a livestock education session at Edufarm Dander, Desa Ngulanan, Kecamatan Dander.

Through this session, they had the opportunity to feed livestock and learn the milk production process through pasteurisation methods.

From the academic aspect, the programme also included a benchmarking learning visit to the Faculty of Agriculture, UNIGORO, to exchange views on curriculum, research, and outreach programmes related to agriculture.

The volunteers also participated in a ‘Sharing dan Sinau Bareng’ session with Ademos Indonesia, which provided exposure to community development approaches based on education and the strengthening of the local economy.

The Education Cluster Programme, held at SDN Dolokgede on 23 February 2026, saw UMPSA volunteers conducting STEM activities, English learning (English for Kids), and Street Science for primary school pupils.

A technology learning session was also carried out together with the AI UNUGIRI and Robotika UNIGORO teams, introducing students to artificial intelligence and robotics technology.

In addition to the educational activities, the programme emphasised welfare and community aspects in conjunction with the arrival of Ramadan.

The volunteers also carried out the Ziarah Prihatin Programme through the distribution of Ramadan Aid Packages to the dhuafa community at Balai Desa Dolokgede as a sign of concern for the local community.

The community atmosphere was further enlivened with the organisation of the Ramadan Fest Competition, which involved a colouring contest for kindergarten children and an Islamic-themed English Quiz Competition for primary school students.

Also held were the Local UMKM Bazaar and a special Malaysian iftar menu cooking session with the PKK mothers, which served as a space for cultural exchange between the Malaysian and Indonesian communities.

The Yayasan UMPSA Kembara Mobiliti Mobility Expedition Programme 2026 concluded with the Cross Culture and Closing Ceremony on 26 February 2026, featuring artistic performances by PMII Acoustic, dances by UNIGORO and UMPSA, as well as the presentation of prizes to competition winners.

The ceremony ended with Iftar Jamaie, attended by all stakeholders, which further reflected the ukhuwah and close ties built throughout the programme.

According to the Manager of Kembara Mobiliti@Dolokgede, Indonesia, Halimatus Sa’diyyah, the programme has opened the door to more meaningful relationships between participants and the local community.

She expressed hope that the experience, knowledge, and networks built throughout the programme would continue to serve as inspiration in empowering community service and strengthening relations between the two neighbouring countries.
