UMPSA students receive donations from YPM, EKUINAS and SSM
PEKAN, 7 February 2024 - A total of ten students of Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) received education funding (SDEP) from Yayasan Pelajaran MARA (YPM) sponsored by Ekuiti Nasional Berhad (EKUINAS) amounting to RM25,000.
Meanwhile, the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) donated Wakalah Zakat Korporat to 16 selected UMPSA student entrepreneurs with a total of RM50,000.
The donation ceremony was graced by the UMPSA Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin.
The Director of SSM Pahang, Kamarudin Mohd Daud and the Section Manager of Tertiary Education, YPM, Abdul Shukor Ibrahim presented the donations.
Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie thanked YPM, EKUINAS and SSM for their contributions and support in the development of the university’s students’ knowledge.
“UMPSA is one of the 12 institutions of higher learning (IHLs) in Malaysia that received this benefit last year with an allocation of RM300,000.00 to fund 120 students.
“Meanwhile, Wakalah Zakat Korporat SSM contributed RM250,000.00 to five IHLs including UMPSA.
“The 16 student entrepreneurs selected to receive this donation are entrepreneurs guided by the UMPSA Centre for Creative Entrepreneur Development (PUPUK),” he said.
He hoped that the students who receive this fund could provide encouragement and continue their interest as entrepreneurs while carrying out their responsibilities as students at the university.
One of the recipients who is also a student of the Faculty of Computing, Nur Aysha Eliya Abdullah Sany thanked SSM, YPM, EKUINAS and UMPSA for this donation.
“Insya-Allah, this fund will motivate me to continue this business,” she said.
Also in attendance were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), Professor Ts. Dr. Ahmad Ziad Sulaiman, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd Rusllim Mohamed and Treasurer/Chief Financial Officer, Dato’ Zainudin Othman.
