UMPSA organises CSR programme to spark digital transformation in rural schools
KUALA LIPIS, 8 April 2026 – A total of 40 teachers and nearly 250 pupils from 19 schools around the Lipis district participated in the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Programme: Digital Competency Development for Teachers and Pupils at the Lipis District Level, which was held over two days from 7 to 8 April 2026 at Sekolah Kebangsaan Relong, Kuala Lipis, Pahang.
The programme, themed ‘Digitalising Education, Empowering the Future’, is a strategic initiative organised by the Lipis District Education Office in collaboration with Sekolah Kebangsaan Relong, Kuala Lipis as the host school and the Faculty of Computing (FK), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA).
The programme aims to ensure that the rural school community is not left behind in the rapidly advancing wave of modern educational technology.
The programme was officiated by the Assistant District Education Officer of Lipis, Radzey Zaidi Zainuddin, and it successfully sparked a wave of digital transformation among educators and pupils in the district.
Among the schools involved were Sekolah Kebangsaan Relong, Sekolah Kebangsaan Kemahang, Sekolah Kebangsaan Batu 13, Sekolah Kebangsaan Chat, Sekolah Indera Shahbandar Pahang (SISP) SMK Clifford, Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina Chung Hwa, Sekolah Kebangsaan Batu 9, Sekolah Kebangsaan Jeram Bungor, Sekolah Kebangsaan Berchang, Sekolah Kebangsaan Penjom, Sekolah Kebangsaan Kuala Kenong, Sekolah Kebangsaan Kuala Lanar, Sekolah Kebangsaan Clifford, Sekolah Kebangsaan Tempoyang, Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil Kuala Lipis, Sekolah Kebangsaan Gua, Sekolah Kebangsaan Wan Ibrahim, Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina Penjom, and Sekolah Kebangsaan Pagar Sasak.

Throughout the programme, participants were exposed to various latest technology modules through smart collaboration with the FK UMPSA lecturers led by Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd Faizal Ab Razak.
Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd Faizal expressed his pride and appreciation for the extraordinary response received throughout the programme.
“This programme is something truly exciting for all of us.
“On behalf of the entire team, I would like to express our deepest gratitude for the warm welcome and special hospitality extended by the school throughout our stay in Kuala Lipis.
“We hope that this knowledge and experience will bring great benefits to all participants,” he said.
He added that among the main components of the programme was a Canva application workshop for teachers, which focused on the production of teaching and learning materials such as posters and videos according to teaching and learning (TnL) needs.
“In this workshop, the teachers were assigned tasks to produce digital materials, which were later evaluated by the facilitators, and the best works were awarded according to the gold, silver, and bronze categories in recognition of participants’ creativity and mastery of technology.
“The programme also featured sharing sessions and exposure to virtual reality (VR) technology, which provided an immersive learning experience for teachers and pupils.
“Participants were also exposed to aspects of cybersecurity to increase awareness of the safe and responsible use of technology,” he said.
He further added that demonstrations and technical training in Lego robotics programming were also among the main attractions of the programme.
“This activity allows pupils to understand the basics of programming practically, while nurturing interest in the STEM field from an early stage.
“The successful organisation of this programme proves that close synergy between higher education institutions and schools can become a catalyst for the development of competent human capital in the digital field,” he said.
This programme is seen as capable of strengthening Malaysia’s position in the global education landscape, in line with the national education digitalisation aspiration.
