UMP focuses on improving the quality of higher education
Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) will continue to strengthen efforts in developing and expanding higher education by focusing on the field of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
Various efforts are being developed to focus on improving the country's technical capabilities, among others is through the offering of industry-driven academic programs to produce holistic graduates.
According to the Vice-Chancellor of UMP, Professor Ir. Dr. Wan Azhar Wan Yusoff, the focus is also given to the cooperation between UMP and the domestic and foreign industries to further enhance the technical capabilities of both parties.
“To achieve this goal, the university has formulated the UMP Strategic Plan 2021-2025 by focusing on elements of exploring new knowledge through research and innovation activities, internationalization, and entrepreneurship of graduates in related fields to improve the quality of education globally.
“Also given attention to the elements of university financial sustainability and strengthening the excellence of the university ecosystem, including efforts towards making UMP a smart and sustainable campus that will benefit more than 12,000 students of this university.
"Hopefully, this continuous effort will continue to make UMP as one of the young universities that can play an important role in improving the country's technical capabilities," he said.
UMP ranks 133rd in Asia in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings: Asia 2021 rankings announced by the international rating agency QS Quacquarelli Symonds recently in recognition of UMP's role and efforts in developing and empowering educational quality human capital at the national and international levels.
This achievement has listed UMP as ranked 21 percent of the best universities in Asia and ranked ninth among Public Institutions of Higher Learning (IPTA) in Malaysia.
