UMP, Abyres Collaboration in 2u2i Programme

PEKAN, 3 March 2021 – Alongside the digital transformation of the Industrial Revolution (IR) 4.0 to produce holistic and expert graduates, Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) has established a strategic partnership with its industry partner Abyres Enterprise Technologies Sdn. Bhd. (Abyres) for industrial training (LI) placement for the UMP 2u2i programme.
Through this partnership, students of the Bachelor of Applied Science (Honours) Data Analytics programme at the Centre for Mathematical Sciences (PSM) have the opportunity to join the 2u2i programme by undergoing the LI using the work-based-learning (WBL) module at selected industries.
The online memorandum of agreement (MoA) signing ceremony was represented by the UMP Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ir. Dr. Wan Azhar Wan Yusoff and Dean of PSM, Professor Dr. Mohd Zuki Salleh. 
Meanwhile Abyres was represented by their Chief Operating Officer, Ts. Basheer Ali Majed and Chief Production Engineer, Mohd Izhar Firdaus Ismail.
Also present were the Senior Dean, College of Computing and Applied Sciences, Professor Ts. Dr. Ruzaini Abdullah Arshah, Deputy Dean (Academic and Student Affairs) of PSM, Associate Professor Dr. Mohd Sham Mohamad and Head of Programme (Data Analytics), Dr. Siti Zanariah Satari.
In his speech, Professor Ir. Dr. Wan Azhar expressed his gratitude and was honoured by the commitment shown by Abyres in giving their trust to UMP in this partnership since the past year.
“This partnership will benefit 28 students from the first group of the UMP Data Analytics programme for 2019/2020 intake and 63 students for the second group for 2020/2021 intake.
“Additionally, the smart partnership established is not only limited to the exchange of knowledge and expertise but also fulfils the nation’s needs by the industry-university involvement across research, education and service,” he said.
Meanwhile, Abyres Chief Operating Officer, Ts. Basheer Ali Majed also expressed his enthusiasm for the industry-academia collaboration networking established today.
“We are honoured to be part of the industry WBL strategic partnership for the Data Analytics programme, Centre for Mathematical Sciences, UMP. 
“The students will get to apply the theory learned in the university to solve real practical problems in the work environment and improve their personal profile and employability in the future.  
“Thus, our expertise will be able to aid future UMP Data Analytics graduates and improve their ability and employability especially in the context of their Data and Analytical Science skills and application to seize career opportunities in a challenging future,” he said.
