The REACH-TVET 2024 programme sparks interest among school students

PEKAN, 28 July 2024 - A total of 116 fifth-form students from Sekolah Sains Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah (SHAH) Pekan recently participated in the Reinforcing, Empowering & Assisting Career Hunter (REACH-TVET) Programme for three days.

The closing ceremony was officiated by the Chairman of the Pahang Women's Policy and Action Plan, Tan Sri Dato' Sri Dr. Noorul Ainur Mohd Nur, representing Pahang State Assembly Member, Dato' Sabariah Saidan, at the Centre for Modern Languages Lecture Hall, UMPSA Pekan.

In her speech, she congratulated all the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) candidates who took part in the programme. 

“Science and Technology play an important role in driving economic growth, especially in addressing national issues and challenges. 

“The concept of Science, Technology, Innovation, and Economy (STIE) was introduced to highlight the significance of Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) in supporting the country's economic growth," she said.

She added that the Pahang State Government, through the Pahang Women's Policy initiative, aims to ensure that women can actively participate in national development. 

“This is a testament to the strength, resilience, and potential of women in creating opportunities across various sectors, including Science and Technology, which can contribute significantly to the state of Pahang Darul Makmur,” she said. 

Dr. Noorul Ainur expressed hope that the programme would ignite students' interest in Science and have a profound impact on future human resource development.

The ceremony was also attended by Associate Professor Dr. Nina Suhaity Azmi, Lecturer at the Faculty of Science and Industrial Technology and Programme Director, Mazlina Mohamad, Head of the Women's and Social Development Unit of the Pahang Government Secretary's Office, and Naziran Mamat, Principal of Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Science School (SHAH).
