UMP shares expertise in robotics literacy program in the UK
UNITED KINGDOM, May 18, 2023 - Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) expands its reach by sharing its expertise in robotics literacy at the international level through the organization of the Robot Literacy Program with Community in Wales, Cardiff.
The program, led by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the Industrial and Community Collaboration Division, UMP, Associate Professor Ir. Dr. Nurul Hazlina Noordin, was attended by 32 school students aged around 10 and 11 from around Wales Cardiff.
Also present to contribute to the success of the program was the Director of Eureka Robotics Cardiff Metropolitan University, Dr. Esyin Chew.
The one-day program held at the Cardiff National Museum, UK, also received collaboration from Cardiff Metropolitan University and the British Council.
According to Associate Professor Ir. Dr. Nurul Hazlina, the program aims to engage the community, especially school students, in out-of-classroom education related to the basics of robotics, which includes the construction of basic robots, their functions, and their uses in daily life.
"This program is one of the initiatives to support UMP's Strategic Plan with UMP's strategic objective 6A, which encourages UMP members to participate in international community service programs.
"In addition, through this program, we can provide exposure to the community regarding the technology and knowledge available at UMP," she said.
This program involves UMP STEM Lab student mentors in the preparation of robotics learning modules and kits.
She hopes that through this program, it can become a platform for the university to engage with the international community, in addition to technology transfer between UMP and the community.
