UMP and MTNP seal collaboration in Ulul Albab Certification Programme

Pekan, 19 August 2020 - Students from the tahfiz stream do not have to worry about continuing their studies at Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) as they can also continue the Quran memorisation throughout their studies. 

Even other students who are interested also have the opportunity to participate in the Ulul Albab Certification Programme as a result of the collaboration between UMP and Maahad Tahfiz Negeri Pahang (MTNP).

This programme is one of the efforts to support the National Education Philosophy as a continuous effort towards further developing the potential of individuals in a holistic and integrated manner to create a balanced and harmonious human being in terms of intellectual, spiritual, emotional and physical based on faith and obedience to God.

The ceremony witnessed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed by the UMP Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ir. Dr. Wan Azhar Wan Yusoff and the Director of the Islamic and Human Development Centre (PIMPIN), Dr. Rashidi Abbas, while MTNP was represented by its Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Dr. Haji Zulkifle Haji Ali and Assistant Academic Manager (Professional Tahfiz), Mohd. Saleh Ramli.

According to Professor Ir. Dr. Wan Azhar, this effort is to produce Malaysians who are knowledgeable, skilled, virtuous, responsible and able to achieve personal well-being, as well as contribute to the harmony and prosperity of the family, society and country.
 
“The MoU also recognises those who have successfully memorised 5–30 juz’ that can be an added value to them when they graduate.
 
“The main goal of the implementation of this programme is to produce hafiz professionals, technocrats and entrepreneurs who have various knowledge skills.

“It also coincides with the first UMP’s core value which is strong bond with the Creator, intending to provide a balanced education of this worldly life and hereafter to UMP students,” he said during the MoU signing at the Banquet Hall, UMP Pekan. 
Meanwhile, Dato’ Dr. Haji Zulkifle also welcomed this collaboration and hoped for more opportunities in the future.

“In fact, for now, some MTNP alumni are continuing their studies in the country, including at UMP and also abroad such as in Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States. 
“We also offer programmes starting from preschool to diploma level,” he said. 
To date, MTNP has six tahfiz kindergarten branches and tahfiz primary schools which will start its session next year.

MTNP also introduced a new programme to open opportunities for the public who are interested in memorising the Quran.

This program started on 7 April 2017 via the Huffaz Engineer Pilot Project with the recruitment of 15 students under the supervision of PIMPIN. 

From the project, five students successfully memorised five juz’ in one semester.

This program had lasted for three semesters involving 56 UMP students.

Of the total, 16 participants had memorised more than 3 juz’.
