UMPSA's Pilgrimage Programme honours excellent B40 students

KUANTAN, 10 February 2024 - Lieutenant Colonel Professor Ir. Ts. Dr. Ahmad Ziad Sulaiman, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Academic and International Affairs at Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), welcomed outstanding B40 students through the recent UMPSA Love Pilgrimage Programme.

He also presented admission offer letters for the Bachelor's Degree Programme for the Second Intake of the 2023/2024 Academic Session to two prospective UMPSA students, namely Nur Adlina Moharizani and Syazwan Syafiq Ibrahim.

His visit was warmly received by Nur Adlina and her family at their residence in Taman Tas Ria.

Nur Adlina was offered admission to the Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Manufacturing) programme with Honours at the Faculty of Manufacturing and Mechatronics Engineering Technology (FTKPM).

She expressed her joy upon receiving the offer, as she is also a diploma graduate in the same field.

Nur Adlina's mother, a single parent, also expressed gratitude to UMPSA and hoped that this offer would serve as motivation for Nur Adlina to continue her success. Nur Adlina is the only child in her family.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant Colonel Professor Ir. Ts. Dr. Ahmad Ziad Sulaiman visited Syazwan Syafiq's home in Felda Bukit Goh.

Syazwan has been offered admission to the Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Electrical) program with Honours at the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Technology (FTKEE).

The youngest of eight siblings, Syazwan is a UMPSA Diploma graduate. The offer letter was presented to his family as Syazwan was in Johor Bahru working to support his studies at UMPSA.

His father, Ibrahim, is a settler who suffers from chronic high blood pressure.

Ibrahim expressed deep gratitude to UMPSA for personally delivering the offer letter to his son.

"This opportunity will not be wasted, especially considering that UMPSA is a public university that my son is passionate about," he said.

Syazwan stated that he is determined to support both his parents after graduating from UMPSA to change his family's fortunes and lift them out of poverty.

Lieutenant Colonel Professor Ir. Ts. Dr. Ahmad Ziad Sulaiman mentioned that this UMPSA charity pilgrimage initiative is a strategy to increase student enrollment and fill available slots from the two admission sessions conducted in 2023.

"UMPSA is offering admission for the third session in March 2024.

"Additionally, this initiative aims to ensure that outstanding B40 students do not miss out on higher education opportunities due to financial hardship.

"UMPSA is committed to fulfilling the aspirations of these students through initiatives like the Love Pilgrimage Programme," he said.

Yayasan UMPSA also contributed donations in the form of kitchen items to help ease the burden on student families.

Also present at this Love Pilgrimage Programme was the Director of Marketing and Academic Admission Centre (PPKA), Zainal Bahari.
