UMPSA promotes mobility, dual degree opportunities during MINDS Week

PEKAN & PAYA BESAR, 23 September 2026 – Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), through the Centre for Academic Collaboration and Mobility (CACM), recently organised a Mobility and Dual Degree Roadshow in conjunction with MINDS Week as an introductory platform to raise students’ awareness of international study opportunities available through the university.

The roadshow served as a teaser for students to explore mobility, dual degree, regional exchange and scholarship opportunities, while introducing key information on programme options, academic eligibility, credit transfer, funding and application procedures.

The sessions were delivered by Associate Professor Dr Nik Aloesnita Nik Mohd Alwi, Nor Ilma Mustafa Kamal and Nur Ezzati Mohd Nasir, who shared information on mobility pathways, dual degree opportunities, AIMS, Erasmus+ KA171 experiences, scholarship opportunities and practical considerations for students planning an international academic experience.

Students were also introduced to a range of potential study destinations. Based on the interests recorded during the engagement, Korea, Indonesia and Germany emerged as the most preferred destinations, indicating strong interest in diverse international academic and cultural experiences.

The programme also introduced the Asian International Mobility for Students (AIMS) Programme, which provides credit-bearing academic exchange opportunities at participating universities across Asia.

In Malaysia, AIMS involves ten selected public universities under the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE), with UMPSA being the only university from the Malaysian Technical University Network (MTUN) participating in the network.

Building on its current participation, UMPSA is also looking to expand AIMS mobility opportunities to Japan, the Philippines, Brunei Darussalam and Thailand, broadening the range of regional destinations available to students.

The roadshow further featured sharing on Erasmus+ KA171 mobility experiences, giving students an overview of structured international mobility opportunities available through UMPSA’s institutional partnerships.

In addition, the experiences of UMPSA alumni who successfully received the Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters (EMJM) Scholarship were shared to demonstrate how international exposure, academic preparation and mobility experiences can support progression towards postgraduate study and international scholarship opportunities.

According to the Director of CACM, Associate Professor Dr. Nik Aloesnita Nik Mohd Alwi, the roadshow was designed as an initial exposure before students explore the available opportunities in greater depth.

“This roadshow is intended as a teaser to help students see the range of opportunities available to them. 

“Through mobility, dual degree, AIMS and Erasmus+ programmes, we want students to start exploring early, understand their options and plan their international academic journey more strategically,” she said.

The programme also provided useful insights into students’ preferred destinations, areas of interest and information needs, which will support the university in planning more targeted mobility engagement and future international academic opportunities.

Through initiatives such as the Mobility and Dual Degree Roadshow during MINDS Week, UMPSA continues to widen students’ exposure to regional and international learning opportunities while encouraging them to consider international experience as part of their academic and professional development.
