UMPSA successfully hosts ICCEIB 2026, driving global research and sustainable innovation
JOHOR BAHRU, 9 July 2026 – The 8th International Conference on Chemical Engineering and Industrial Biotechnology (ICCEIB 2026), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) was successfully held on 8 and 9 July 2026 at the Ramada Hotel by Wyndham Meridin, Johor Bahru, in a hybrid format, bringing together researchers, academics, industry practitioners, and students from various countries to exchange knowledge and strengthen international research collaboration in the fields of chemical engineering and industrial biotechnology.
The conference was officiated by Assistant Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation), Professor ChM Dr. Mohd Hasbi Ab Rahim.
The two-day conference was held under the theme, ‘Culturing Sustainable Technological Solutions for Industry and Society’.
Professor ChM Dr. Mohd Hasbi said, the word culturing reminds us that meaningful solutions do not take shape overnight.

"They must be carefully nurtured through knowledge, experimentation, collaboration, trust, and a shared commitment to creating a better future.
"Our research must not only advance academic understanding.
“It must also address real challenges, strengthen industries, protect the environment, empower communities, and support sustainable development,” he said.
Also in attendance were the Dean of the Faculty of Chemical and Process Engineering Technology (FTKKP), Professor Ts. Dr. Sumaiya Zainal Abidin, and the Chairman of ICCEIB 2026, Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Siti Kholijah Abdul Mudalip.
Organised by the Faculty of Chemical and Process Engineering Technology (FTKKP), UMPSA in collaboration with Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember, King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok, and Universitas Indonesia, the conference served as an international platform for participants to present their latest research findings, exchange ideas, and foster strategic collaborations that support scientific advancement and sustainable development.
ICCEIB 2026 attracted nearly 150 participants from India, Indonesia, Iraq, Nigeria, the Philippines, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, and Malaysia, representing universities, research institutions, government agencies, and industry.
The hybrid mode of participation enabled greater accessibility and encouraged wider engagement among the global research community.
Throughout the two-day conference, participants attended keynote sessions, technical presentations, and networking activities that promoted interdisciplinary discussions and the sharing of innovative solutions to address current challenges in chemical engineering and industrial biotechnology.
The organising committee, led by Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Siti Kholijah Abdul Mudalip, expressed its sincere appreciation to all organising partners, sponsors, speakers, reviewers, session chairs, and participants for their invaluable contributions in ensuring the success of ICCEIB 2026.
“Special thanks were also extended to the conference sponsors: Solteq Solutions, GAMMA Scientific Research Sdn. Bhd., MEGNA Scientific, FANNEX Engineering, FERMETEC Resources, Agilent, PChem, and Taat Bestari Sdn. Bhd,” she said.
The successful organisation of ICCEIB 2026 reflects UMPSA’s continuous commitment to advancing research excellence, strengthening international partnerships, and providing a platform for knowledge exchange that contributes towards technological innovation and sustainable development.
