Dapur Kita Project: Students Helping Students
PEKAN, 13 January 2024 – A total of 300 pieces of roti canai and 600 pieces of pancakes were successfully distributed to students of Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) through the Dapur Kita (Our Kitchen) initiative with the 'Students Helping Students' approach.
The food distribution took place at the Pekan Student Activity Centre and at Student Resident Cafe 4 and Payung Putih for students at the Gambang campus.
Volunteers among the students played an important role in implementing this initiative as they were involved in the entire process, including the preparation of roti canai dough and pancake mix, spreading roti canai, cooking anchovy sauce, and distributing to UMPSA students.
According to the Project Manager in Pekan, a 2nd year student at the Faculty of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering Technology (FTKMA), Indra Mahyudin Ishak, a programme with such a positive impact needs to be continued to produce high-quality volunteer students who are more authoritative among themselves, not only between students but also among all communities at UMPSA.
"The bond of unity and cooperation is growing stronger, as we can prove as long as we volunteer actively participate in the programme preparation until its culmination."
"Thanks to Yayasan UMPSA, the Dapur Kita Project not only helps to prepare food but also provides a positive spirit at the end of this challenging semester.
"The Dapur Kita Project proves that students here help each other, building a more united community," he said.
He expressed hope that the Dapur Kita Project would not be the last.
"I hope initiatives like this can continue to be implemented to help students in the future," he said.
Meanwhile, the Chief Executive of the UMPSA Foundation, Mohd Jamil Mohd Ja'afar, also appreciated the dedication and spirit of cooperation of the UMPSA Foundation Squad, who are always committed to supporting the UMPSA Foundation's programmes.
"The success of our Dapur Kita Project is a real example of how powerful the driving force of volunteers is in building a better community.
"There are many more programmes and initiatives that will be implemented this year to contribute to the well-being and development of the student community and the community outside," he said.
