UMPSA community engages in collective effort to prepare iftar meals throughout Ramadan

GAMBANG, 12 March 2024 - Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) maintains the concept of cooking according to a schedule for the preparation of iftar meals held collectively according to each department or faculty.

Moreover, students also contribute to the food preparation activities, especially in preparing iftar meals at both campuses in Pekan and Gambang.

The preparation and distribution of Ramadan iftar meals are a collaboration between UMPSA Foundation and the Islamic and Human Development Centre (PIMPIN).

Various dishes are prepared including white rice, beef stew, mixed vegetables, spicy chicken coconut milk, rice porridge, chicken kurma, and others according to the established schedule.

According to UMPSA Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, the preparation of iftar meals is carried out daily involving staff and students on a rotational basis according to the schedule set under the coordination of PIMPIN for approximately 2,000 UMPSA students at the Pekan and Gambang campuses.

“This contribution is the result of fundraising from corporate organizations, UMPSA subsidiaries, departments, and UMPSA Foundation Ramadan Fund received from external parties including individuals and corporate entities contributing to the Ramadan Fund through UMPSA Foundation.

“This year through the Ramadan Fund, UMPSA Foundation aims to collect a contribution of RM240,000 for the provision of free iftar meals throughout this Ramadan month,” he said, who is also the Deputy Chairman of UMPSA Foundation.

They also invite any donors, individuals, and organizations who wish to contribute to UMPSA Foundation's Ramadan Fund, to donate through UMPSA Foundation Account: 556235317085 (Maybank) and Reference: Ramadan 2024.

Meanwhile, UMPSA continues the iftar tradition, serving meals on trays to foster solidarity among its members.

Additionally, this tray dining method also speeds up the cleaning process.

Throughout this Ramadan month, UMPSA also organizes various activities to enrich this noble month with events including the Ramadan Festival with Tarawih prayers, Tadarus, and Jamaie Iftar.

Others include visits to orphanages, Sahur Ride UMPSA 2024, rice porridge cooking programmes, Quranic Revelation Lectures, Ramadan Hafiz Camp, Quran Hour Completion Ceremony, Subuh Squad like Fridays, Last Minute Tahajud Call, Ramadan Hafiz Camp, and Creative Ramadan Writing Competition, which also provides an opportunity for campus residents and the local community to participate.
