Academic Excellence Awards from Pahang Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council for Nor Suhadah and Nur Aznah

GAMBANG, 21 October 2023 – Being active in various activities at the university in addition to academic excellence netted Nor Suhadah Razali the Academic Excellence Award from the Pahang Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council at the Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) Convocation Ceremony, which took place at the Sports Complex Hall, UMPSA Gambang Campus.

Suhadah, 24 said that she did not expect to be selected as the award recipient at the convocation ceremony this time since there were many other potential graduands, but she was grateful to be chosen nonetheless.

“My life principle is to strive as long as I can because only I can change my life.

“Through hard work and effort, I can keep growing.

“So, turn a deaf ear to the voices that hold you from moving forward.

“Focus on your goal and be consistent in achieving success because it will build a stronger character in you,” she said.

Suhadah, the youngest of six siblings, was raised by her mother Hamidah Tahir, 54, who is a single mother after the death of her father, Razali Awang Lah due to dyspnea when she was four years old.

“My mother is the biggest contributor to my success.

“I will try to make her happy until she breathes her last.

“I believe that with this success, I can make my mother proud and happy,” she said.

In addition, she wanted to prove that an orphan without a father is able to get a bachelor’s degree so as to open the eyes of the community not to see someone without a father cannot succeed.

She said this was also able to raise the dignity of a single mother to be considered noble by society because some parties always said that single mothers could not afford to educate their children perfectly.

“I love my mother because she has given me everything.

“She gave me love, she gave me her soul, and she gave me all her time,” she said.

Meanwhile, Nur Aznah Mat Yusof, 25, a graduand of the Bachelor of Civil Engineering with Honours was also named as the recipient of the Pahang Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council Academic Excellence Award.

The graduand from Kuala Terengganu was excited and happy after being selected to receive the award and thanked her parents who raised her with love.
 
“My biggest success is when I get the Dean’s List Award for all semesters.

“I really did not expect that I would be able to maintain such excellence until the final semester.

“An unforgettable experience was when I became an Academic Exco during year 1 of the Civil Engineering and Earth Resources Student’s Society (CIVER),” she said.

She added that seniors and friends gave a lot of guidance and set a good example.

“Seeing the success of seniors has made me want to study more seriously and participate in the programmes implemented at UMPSA.

“The university lecturers and friends also gave me a lot of encouragement to continue to strive for success.

“The award I received motivated me to keep working in the future,” she said.
