Non-Identical twins Safrizal and Safrina excited to receive UMPSA Degrees together

GAMBANG, 26 October 2024 – A pair of non-identical twins created a beautiful memory as they shared the stage to celebrate their graduation at the 19th Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) Convocation Ceremony.

Safrizal Syazwan Zainal Hayat, 24 (the elder brother), graduated with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (Automotive), while Safrina Syazwanie Zainal Hayat, 24 (the younger sister), earned her Bachelor of Chemical Engineering.

According to Safrizal, they have always been close since childhood, and both were fortunate to continue their studies at the same university when they entered higher education.

“I am excited to share the same stage with my younger sister.

“In addition, this is also the first time our family has witnessed such a grand occasion.

“Although my twin and I were celebrated on different days, the joy was indescribable, especially since our parents attended the ceremony on two consecutive days,” he said.

He expressed his gratitude to their parents, who have given much support and made sacrifices for them since childhood.

“I feel extremely proud to be able to complete my studies on time together with my twin.

“I still remember, four years ago, when we filled out our university application forms, neither of us expected to study at the same university.

“Although I was at UMPSA Pekan Campus and Safrina was at UMPSA Gambang Campus, it did not stop us from staying in touch with each other.

“Sometimes, during university programmes, we would meet,” he said.

From Safrizal’s perspective, having a twin is an advantage as it provides mutual encouragement during challenges and an opportunity to share life’s ups and downs.

Safrizal, the eldest of four siblings, aspires to become a mechanical engineer, while Safrina has already begun her career as an engineer at a company in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur.
