Puteri Nurulain, TVET graduate, receives Professor Dato’ Dr Mashitah Mohd Yusoff UMPSA Award

GAMBANG, 27 October 2024 – Puteri Nurulain Rahimin, 25, was shocked and did not expect to be named the recipient of the Professor Dato’ Dr Mashitah Mohd Yusoff Award in conjunction with the 19th Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) Convocation Ceremony today.

She said she never thought she would receive any award because there are still many other students out there who are better.

“Nevertheless, I still feel grateful for this opportunity and recognition.

“Clearly, all my hard work has finally paid off,” she said with a smile.

Puteri completed her four-year studies at UMPSA and earned a Bachelor of Technology in Industrial Machining with Honours from the Faculty of Manufacturing and Mechatronics Engineering Technology (FTKPM).

Raised in Johor, Puteri holds the Malaysian Vocational Certificate (SVM) and the Malaysian Vocational Diploma (DVM) from the Industrial Training Institute, Pasir Gudang, before continuing her studies at UMPSA.

She further shared that her biggest achievement while studying at UMPSA was receiving the Dean’s Award every semester.

“This achievement not only recognises my effort and dedication in academics but also serves as motivation for me to continue striving for excellence,” she said.

“At UMPSA, I was also actively involved in various co-curricular activities and held several important positions.

“The most unforgettable experience was when I volunteered to help flood victims,” she said.

That experience gave her the opportunity to serve the community and witness the hardships faced by others.

Puteri added that through volunteer activities, she learned the importance of volunteer spirit, teamwork, and compassion towards the community.

“It also taught me to be grateful for what I have and how we can all make a positive impact on the lives of others.

“Learning at UMPSA was very enjoyable because the university provides modern facilities, industry-oriented academic programmes, and a practical approach that prepares students for future careers.

“The qualified teaching staff and strong industry connections open up opportunities for training and employment,” she said.

Additionally, she said that the campus is vibrant with co-curricular activities and provides comfortable accommodation, enhancing the overall student experience.

Puteri has now begun her career as an Engineer at Akar Indah Engineering Sdn. Bhd. in Kuching and aspires to change her family’s fate by providing a better and more comfortable life.

She wishes to repay her family’s sacrifices and efforts by ensuring success in her career while improving her family’s standard of living.

“I aspire to become a person who is useful to society and the country, contributing through the knowledge and skills I have gained throughout my educational journey and work experience,” she concluded.
