Ridiculed that she wouldn’t succeed, Laili proves otherwise
GAMBANG, 22 October 2023 - Insinuations that she will not succeed have become the spark for Nur Layli Wirman, 25, the daughter of a former tailor, Wirman Tengku Munaf, 61 and restaurateur, Afni Zakaria, 58, to prove people’s perception of her family is completely wrong.
Friendly addressed as Layli, she proved that she was able to obtain the Dean’s List Award five times during her study.
In addition, she won the Ir. Kee Book Hee Excellence Award.
According to Layli, her parents always told her to prove to them that their children would succeed.
“This is my drive to make the best of everything I do.
“I believe that Allah SWT provides a test according to one’s capability.
“Allah SWT does not burden a person unless it is within his capacity; this is what I hold dearly to always be patient, grateful and strive to achieve success,” said this Selangor native.
Recalling the early moments of admission to UMP, now known as UMPSA, Layli intended to become an exchange student abroad, but it did not come true as the COVID-19 pandemic hit the world.
The graduand of the Faculty of Civil Engineering Technology (FTKA) was determined to shorten her study to three and a half years on financial factors but still ensure that she remained excellent each semester and active in co-curricular activities.
Nur Nayli Wirman received the award presented by the UMPSA Pro-Chancellor, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Abi Musa Ashaari at the UMPSA 18th Convocation Ceremony which took place at the University Sports Complex Hall, Gambang Campus.
